“Loved every moment of the week, very relaxed and calm coming in to the run was great for the nerves and to lock in. The school visit was such a perfect day (even with the rain), the kids energy was infectious, the teachers were all so welcoming and kind and was a real experience. The night of the run as a runner felt like it flowed really well, crew members and some drivers were really professional, and collected so made it very easy to get in and get out with what I needed. The Medics at the finish line were perfect and couldn't of asked for much more help and kindness.”

Sam Bradley, BHU 2025 team member

“Hands down, one of the greatest weeks I’ve ever had. An incredible community, all united by the shared goal of pushing ourselves to do something great. There wasn’t a single bad moment, I loved every second of it and every person involved, from the runners to the crew and support teams. I truly believe Bali Hope brings together amazing people.

Running that far across Bali was an unforgettable experience. Hearing the island fall asleep and then wake up again during the same run was something else entirely. This week went far beyond what I expected, by miles.”

Nick Dobbie, Sydney, Australia (2025 BHU team member)

Where do I start! From the beginning I loved the support & welcoming feel. Regardless of what was going on for me it was great to know i was welcomed & supported if I needed it.
I went into the experience for the following reasons..
-My love for the Balinese & a desire to give back to them
-To be a part of something making a positive difference
-To show my daughter that nothing is beyond her reach
-To push myself physically & mentally to see what I could achieve for myself
- & to run across this beautiful island because why not!
The experience helped me achieve all of this & more. I faced fears & demons, pushed through pain, bonded with amazing humans & have never felt so exhausted & alive!!

AMAZING!!

Where in the world can you be apart of something so special which feels like a huge family??! Tom you better carry it on next year! Ill happily fly around the world to crew for you at any event you organise.

You've built a great event that brings together people from all different backgrounds, running targets, abilities. Everyone comes away with something new they have learned about themsleves. People make friends for life through the experience too. You go above and beyond for each athlete so they can achieve their goal whether that is 54KM and they get a lift to cross the line, have support runners or run the full 84km.

Edd Moore (2025 BHU support team member)

”I never expected to be thrown into this experience with a whole bunch of strangers (people I considered to be absolutely bonkers to be running 84km across a country overnight!) and come out on the other side with these same ‘strangers’ who I now consider to be family for life.
Every single person I have met on this trip - runners, crew, supporters, staff, organizers, parents, family, friends, partners, students, grads, medics, drivers, BCF - are the kindest and most genuine people that anyone could ever be lucky enough to know. I don’t yet know if I am tempted enough to come back as a runner, but I know without a doubt that I will be back. If there is anyone out there who is considering being a part of the Bali Hope Experience, I would say “don’t hesitate” and do it. It will change your life.”

Linda Bailey (2025 BHU support team member)

"The Bali Hope Ultra is an incredibly unique experience. To take on a physical challenge and make a positive impact to those in need was extremely rewarding. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to take part and share the experience with so many amazing people. It is simply life-changing and I can’t wait to do it again next year."

Angus Tinworth, Sydney, Australia (2019 & 2022 BHU team member)

“It was surreal for me to return and the BEST decision of 2022!

I am so happy and grateful I did! I now have so much appreciation for this event! I loved it in 2019 - it was an immense experience and incredible to run across a country running my first ultra marathon.

This time it was so much more than running. The run was just the catalyst to what came after…I am not sure if I can put it into words but the connections and community that was created in only 4/5 days was beyond incredible! I loved every minute of the experience from start to finish!

I also appreciate what Bali Hope is creating which is inspiring. Cleverly facilitating a caring community that is in respect of where we are running!
THANK YOU SO MUCH TOM AND TEAM!!”

Alice Evans, London, UK (2019 & 2022 BHU Team member)

"The Bali Hope Ultra is like nothing I've ever experienced before. It truly is a remarkable event that magnetically pulls together a remarkable group of people…The way 26 strangers came together from all different physical backgrounds to all make it across the island is insane. Tom, you really have created something special here and you should be very proud of it. I can't wait to come back and run crew in the future!!

"So very hard to describe and probably a description that will change over time as key experiences come back to me. The overriding factor for me though was the love that permeated the group. It’s been a week of hope, encouragement, change, challenge, emotion discovery and trust. I cannot imagine a situation where you can look into the eyes of such a diverse group of people and each one returns the love you have for them."

Pete Kavanagh, Melbourne Australia (2022 BHU team member)
