Full details are below.
How it works
The Bali Hope Ultra is more than a race.
It's a full week — carefully designed so that by the time you reach the start line, you'll have made friends, visited the community you're running for, and felt the full weight of why this matters.
The all-inclusive event fee covers everything from the moment you land in Bali: 4* and 5* accommodation, all meals, race entry and logistics, event apparel, photography, and all transport across the seven days including airport collection on arrival.
Standard pricing starts from US$3,500 (shared room), with early bird and group pricing from US$2,850 per person.
A US$350 deposit secures your place, with monthly instalments available for the balance.
About half our team each year are first-time ultra runners — and thanks to our extraordinary team coach Sean Bell, every runner gets access to a bespoke 20-week training program designed for the course.
Our finish rate is over 97%. Each year, around 30% of runners come back to run again or join the support crew. That tells you everything you need to know.

Fundraising to change lives
The Bali Hope Ultra is also a fundraising challenge. Every runner commits to raising a minimum of US$2,000 to support positive change on the island.
Our impact partner since 2017 has been Bali Children Foundation (BCF) — an award-winning Australian and Indonesian registered charity with a strong track record in lifting communities out of poverty.
BCF provide each runner with access to their fundraising platform and a high level of personal support to help you reach your target.
In practice, most runners comfortably exceed it. The average raised is nearly double the minimum.
And on Impact Day — Day 2 of the week — you'll visit the schools and families you've fundraised for in person. It's the moment the whole experience comes into focus.
"The most impactful week I’ve ever experienced. I felt like a part of the team from the moment I signed up. Thank you so much for letting me be part of the Bali hope family, I loved every moment of the journey!

Can I pay in instalments?
Yes — we offer a monthly payment plan option. We ask those on early bird pricing to start their monthly payments within 28 days of registering. If you have specific circumstances or would like to discuss options, please reach out to us directly at tomh@bali-hope.com.
Are there any discounts available?
Early bird pricing is available for the first 20 places on each event. Group discounts apply for teams of two or more signing up together. Returning runners receive a 7% discount on the early bird price. We also have some capacity to support those with special circumstances — just get in touch and have a conversation with us.
Can I bring my partner or children?
Absolutely — we love welcoming families. Non-running guests can join for an additional US$1,350, which covers all seven days on an all-inclusive basis (shared room with a family member). Children over 14 are welcome to join the support crew on race night, which is a genuinely memorable experience.
Drop us a line at tomh@bali-hope.com and we’ll put together a package for you and connect you with families who’ve done it before.·
· What will they do during the run?
That's entirely up to them. We encourage partners and children over 14 years old to join our support crews on the night of the run. This is a profound and enjoyable experience and a place on the support crew is highly sought after. Otherwise we recommend staying at the hotel which we use as the Race HQ at the halfway mark and then joining the finish line to celebrate their family member at the finish line.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Run
Can I join the ultra marathon but not the rest of the week?
The week together is as much a part of the Bali Hope experience as the run itself. The bonds you build with your teammates, the impact day visiting the communities you’ve fundraised for, and the shared celebrations make the whole journey what it is. We can’t offer the ultra as a standalone event — and we think once you’ve experienced the full week, you’ll completely understand why.
Do I need to bring my own support crew?
Not at all — most runners come on their own and that’s absolutely fine. Our crew looks after everyone on the course, not just the people they came with. That said, many runners do choose to bring a partner or family member to join the support crew on race night, and it’s a truly special thing to share. Places on the support crew are genuinely sought after.
What if I’ve never run an ultra marathon before?
You’re in good company — around half our team each year are first-time ultra runners, some of whom have only run a marathon or even just 20km before signing up.
What they all have in common is commitment. We’ll connect you with your teammates several months before the event, host Zoom calls to share training and fundraising advice, and give you access to a detailed 20-week training program tailored to your experience level. You won’t be doing this alone.
What’s your finish rate?
We’re incredibly proud that our finish rate is over 97%. With the right preparation, the right support on course, and the right team around you, the vast majority of our runners make it to the finish line.
What start time should I choose?
We offer three start times to suit different experience levels — 5:30pm, 7:30pm, and 9:00pm. If you’re targeting a sub-10 hour finish, we’d suggest the 9:00pm start. Sub-12 hours, go for 7:30pm. For everyone else, the 5:30pm start gives you the most time on the course and the most support around you. Not sure? Just ask us — we’re happy to help you figure out the right fit.
What equipment do I need to bring?
Mandatory kit includes a head torch, a lightweight running vest, a camel pack, and a smartphone with a spare battery pack. Our support vehicles stock nutrition and hydration at 5km intervals throughout the course, but please bring any specific gels or hydration powders you rely on. You can also leave a drop bag at Race HQ at the 40km mark.
Is there a cut-off time?
There is a formal cut-off at the halfway mark of 2:00am. We always do everything we can to keep the course open and get every single runner to the finish line — but runner and crew safety always comes first.
What support is available during the race?
Each starting group of around 10–12 runners has three SUVs and three motorbikes providing support throughout the night, with aid stations roughly every 5km stocked with nutrition, hydration, and medical supplies. We also have an experienced health and safety director, emergency medical backup, and trained first aiders at both fixed and mobile stations. Your safety is our absolute priority.
What insurance do I need?
You’ll need personal travel and emergency medical insurance that covers endurance events for the duration of your time in Bali. This should include hospitalization, medical care, repatriation, and evacuation if needed. You’ll need to provide a copy before race day and sign a waiver at registration confirming your cover is in place.

· What is your advice on the right training schedule?
The support we provide our successful applicants includes access to a detailed 20-week training program for different levels of experience.
Some of our more experienced team members will pass on their expert advice and answer questions through our private team WhatsApp group. There is certainly not one approach that suits everyone and factors such as your age, current fitness levels, nutrition and mindset are important. Some runners recommend a focus on strength, hill and speed training while others recommend building up to the event with a significant amount of “volume”. There is plenty of advice available from runners of all levels who completed the course.
· What equipment will I need?
Mandatory equipment includes: a head torch, a light vest, camel pack and smart phone with an additional battery pack.
While our support cars provide nutrition and hydration at 5km intervals we request that you bring and carry any specifc gels and hydration powder you need for the race. You can also leave a drop bag at Race HQ at the 40km mark.
· Is there a cut-off time?
While we do our best to keep the course open to ensure every runner can finish, we reserve the right to remove a runner from the course to maintain the safety of runners and support crew.
The formal cut-off time at the halfway mark is 2:00am.
· What level of support do you provide?
Bali Hope Ultra operates 3 start times to accommodate different levels of experience. Runners can chose to start at either 5:30pm, 7:30pm or 9:00pm.
We suggest anyone targeting a sub-10 hour run choses the 9:00pm time, sub-12 hour at 7:30pm and everyone else at 5:30pm
With each starting group (of approx 10-12 runners) we have 3 SUVs and 3 motorbikes providing support with aid stations at approximately every 5km.
The SUVs are catered with access to nutrition, hydration and medical support.
Runner safety on this open-road race is our key priority.
With this in mind we have a highly-experienced health and safety director, emergency medical back-up, and trained first aiders in both fixed and mobile-aid stations.
Fundraising
What’s the fundraising target?
We ask each runner to raise a minimum of US$2,000 for our impact partner, Bali Children Foundation (BCF). In practice, most runners comfortably exceed this — the average raised is nearly double the target. BCF provide their own fundraising platform and offer great support to help you get there.
What if I miss the fundraising target?
We won’t penalise you — we just ask that you give it your genuine best effort. The unique nature of what you’re doing (running an overnight ultra marathon across Bali to lift communities out of poverty) tends to resonate with people, and most runners are pleasantly surprised by how generously their networks respond.
