The Bali Hope Ultra

May 20 - 26 2026

Join a small team taking on an overnight coast-to-coast double marathon

Help lift a community out of poverty

Share an extraordinary 7 days in Bali

How it works

The Bali Hope Ultra is priced on an all-inclusive basis and requires team members to join us for the full 7-days of the event.

The standard event fee is US$3500 (shared room).

Early bird pricing starts from US$3150 and provides a monthly payment option.

The event fee covers everything from the moment you land in Bali.

The journey starts as soon as you sign-up with access to personalised training support, connections to other teams members and 1-1 advice on how to make the most of your Bali Hope Ultra experience.

We always love to welcome first time ultra-runners and thanks to our extraorndary team coach Sean Bell we provide a bespoke training program designed for the course alongside monthly team calls from December to April.

Fundraising to change lives

The Bali Hope Ultra is also a fundraising challenge that requires participants to fundraise to support positive impact on the island.

Our impact partner since 2017 has been Bali Children Foundation (BCF), an award-winning Australian and Indonesian registered charity with a strong track record in lifting communities out of poverty.

The fundraising target is US$2000 which most team members comfortably exceed. BCF provide our team members with access to their fundraising platform and offer a high level of fundraising support.

"The most impactful week I’ve ever experienced. I felt like a part of the team from the moment I signed up. Thank you so much for letting me be part of the Bali hope family, I loved every moment of the journey!

Day 2 Impact Day - Thursday May 21

The Alila, Seminyak

After the famously delicious breakfast at The Alila, you'll be driven to the community you have fundraised for in the north of Bali. You'll visit the schools and families you are supporting and you'll understand the profound impact you've made.

Apart from the emotionally charged traditional pre-race blessing for the running team the day is kept purposely flexible.

We will be working behind the scenes with your support crew, which may include your partner or family member, before we load and prepare the support vehicles.

We operate three separate start times to cater for newcomers, intermediate and elite endurance athletes.

Day 5 Finish Line - Sunday May 24

Our finish line is at Old Man’s, the iconic beachfront bar and surfer hang-out in Canggu.

Once everyone is across the line, you'll enjoy a finish line Ceremony and Celebration before transport back to The Alila

Day 6 Closing Party - Monday May 25

The Alila, Seminyak

The final day gives us time to relax, reflect on your achievements and celebrate with your teammates.

Enjoy the facilities of the 5* Alila Hotel with your teammates and friends before joining our closing party in the evening with sunset drinks and dinner at a private villa.

Day 7 Event Close - Tuesday May 26

The Alila, Seminyak

After a final Alila breakfast, enjoy a relaxing morning before the event closes. You'll have made life-long friends and will share a very special bond that comes with sharing such a rewarding Challenge.

The Bali Hope Ultra will stay in your heart long after you leave the Island. Many team members choose to extend their trip to spend more time with friends and family on the beautiful Island of Bali.

"Being able to participate in the whole Bali Hope experience was hands down one of the best things I’ve ever done. It was everything that I expected it would be but way more than I could have ever imagined. The chance to combine passions and help people....a truly unique experience. Look out because I’m coming back. Yes! It is that good!!!"

Pricing & payment options

We always do our best to support runners with a range of payment options, including monthly payment plans.

If you are a student, nurse, teacher, firefighter, veteran or similar, or have special circumstances, please let us know as we have some capacity to support different pricing options.

· Early bird pricing

We ask those taking the early bird pricing option to start a monthly payment option within 21 days of registration.

· Can I bring a partner and/or children?

Of course.

We love to welcome families. Please contact us at tomh@bali-hope.com and we can arrange a bespoke package for you and put you in touch with families who have come before.

· What will they do during the run?

That's entirely up to them. We encourage partners and children over 14 years old to join our support crews on the night of the run. This is a profound and enjoyable experience and a place on the support crew is highly sought after. Otherwise we recommend staying at the hotel which we use as the Race HQ at the halfway mark and then joining the finish line to celebrate their family member at the finish line.

  • All meals at The Lovina

  • Finish line breakfast at Old Man’s

The Run

· Can I join the ultra marathon but not the rest of the week?

Unfortunately not. The integrity of our running team, our shared experience and our itinerary means this is not possible.

· Do I need to bring my own ‘crew’?

No, most runners come on their own. Our crew crews for everyone even though most of the support crew are partners or families members of runners they crew for everyone not just who they come with.

· Links to the Strava of Previous Bali Hope Ultra runs

Here are links to some previous Bali Hope Ultra run’s on Strava. The time spread for our ultra team has been from 8 hours to just over 17 hours for the back marker who completed the distance while carrying an injury.

· What is your advice if I have never run an ultra marathon before?

About half those joining tend to be newcomers to ultra running, some may have completed a marathon and others just 20km. The common characteristic of all these individuals was a high level of commitment to prepare as best they could. We connect the team via a Whatsapp group 4-5 months from the start of the event, host zoom calls to share advice on training and fundraising and to answer questions.

· What is your advice on the right training schedule?

The support we provide our successful applicants includes access to a detailed 10-week training program for different levels of experience.

Some of our more experienced team members will pass on their expert advice and answer questions through our private team WhatsApp group. There is certainly not one approach that suits everyone and factors such as your age, current fitness levels, nutrition and mindset are important. Some runners recommend a focus on strength, hill and speed training while others recommend building up to the event with a significant amount of “volume”. There is plenty of advice available from runners of all levels who completed the course.

· What equipment will I need?

Mandatory equipment includes: a head torch, a light vest, camel pack and smart phone with an additional battery pack.

While our support cars provide nutrition and hydration at 5km intervals we request that you bring and carry any specifc gels and hydration powder you need for the race. You can also leave a drop bag at Race HQ at the 40km mark.

· Is there a cut-off time?

While we do our best to keep the course open to ensure every runner can finish, we reserve the right to remove a runner from the course to maintain the safety of runners and support crew.

The formal cut-off time at the halfway mark is 3:00am.

· What level of support do you provide?

Bali Hope Ultra operates 3 start times to accommodate different levels of experience. Runners can chose to start at either 5:30pm, 7:30pm or 9:00pm. We suggest anyone targeting a sub-10 hour run choses the 9:00pm time, sub-12 hour at 7:30pm and everyone else at 5:30pm

With each starting group (of approx 10-12 runners) we have 3 SUVs and 3 motorbikes providing support with aid stations at approximately every 5km. The SUVs are catered with access to nutrition, hydration and medical support.

Runner safety on this open-road race is our key priority. With this in mind we have a highly-experienced health and safety director, emergency medical back-up, and trained first aiders in both fixed and mobile-aid stations.

· What insurance do I need?

Every runner will need personal travel & emergency medical insurance covering endurance events.

Fundraising

· What is your advice on fundraising?

Critical factors on successful fundraising include: starting early to raise awareness of what you are doing, the impact it will make and the training commitment required to complete the run, and then follow this up with personal messages to friends, family and your broader network.

The unique nature of the ultramarathon and the pedigree of our impact partner will make fundraising considerably easier than you’d expect.

· What if I miss the fundraising target

We don’t penalise you for missing the target but ask you to commit to doing your best. The averaged raised by each runner is nearly double the target amount.
